Frequently asked questions
Arrivo is launching in Canada in 2027. Here’s what people ask us most.
Launch and access
When does Arrivo launch?
We plan to launch in Canada in 2027. People on the waitlist will be invited to our beta first.
Can I use Arrivo today?
Not yet. No accounts, cards, credit or transfers are offered today. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when early access opens.
Who is Arrivo for?
Newcomers to Canada in their first five years: permanent residents, workers and international students, plus people who are still planning their move.
Which countries do you welcome newcomers from?
Our goal is to serve newcomers from any country. Exact eligibility will depend on identity checks and Canadian rules, and we’ll publish it before launch.
Your money and safety
Is Arrivo a bank?
No. Arrivo is a financial technology company. In Canada, only licensed banks can call themselves banks. We’ll work with a licensed partner bank that holds customer deposits.
Will my money be protected?
Customer deposits will be held by a licensed partner bank that is a member of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC). CDIC protects eligible deposits up to $100,000 per insured category at each member institution. We’ll name our partner and explain your coverage before launch.
How will you keep my account secure?
You’ll sign in with a passkey, unlocked by Face ID or your fingerprint, instead of a password. New devices, new payees and large transfers get an extra check, and we won’t rely on SMS codes alone. Card numbers will stay with our card processor, and your data will stay in Canada.
Day-One Credit
How can you offer credit if I have no Canadian history?
We start from what you bring: the savings you move in, your job or study offer, and your foreign credit report where one exists. After you land, paying your payroll, rent and phone bills through Arrivo helps your limit grow.
How much credit will I get?
Starter limits will be modest and based on what you bring, such as the savings you move in. We’ll review your limit every month, and on-time payments help it grow. All credit is subject to approval.
Will it help me build a Canadian credit score?
Yes, that’s the goal. We plan to report your credit line to Equifax and TransUnion every month, so after about a year you have a real Canadian credit history.
How do you make sure credit decisions are fair?
Every decision will come with plain reasons. We’ll test our model for bias by country of origin, and a person will review declines.
Sending money home
How much will it cost to send money home?
Our target is a total cost of 1.5% or less, through a licensed remittance partner. Try the transfer cost calculator to compare it with today’s average costs.
Which countries can I send money to?
We’ll announce the full list before launch, starting with the countries newcomers send money to most.
Opening an account
Can I open an account before I arrive in Canada?
That’s the plan. You’ll verify your identity from abroad with your passport and a live selfie, following the photo ID method set out by FINTRAC, Canada’s anti-money-laundering agency.
What will I need to sign up?
A valid passport or permanent resident card, and a smartphone with a camera. To be considered for Day-One Credit, you may also share your job or study offer.
The waitlist and your data
What happens when I join the waitlist?
We’ll email you about early access, our beta and our launch. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email.
What do you do with my information?
We only collect your email and, if you choose, the country you’re moving from and when you expect to arrive. We use it to send you launch news and to plan which countries and languages to support first. We never sell it. Read our privacy policy.
Investors
Are you raising money?
Yes. We’re raising a $15 million seed round. Email investors@arrivofinance.ca to request our investor deck. This is not an offer to sell securities.
